From Poster to VIP Tickets – My Journey Designing a Statewide Prom Event
The Technikerball is the annual ball hosted by the Higher Technical Institute Mössingerstraße in Klagenfurt, and in 2018, the theme was "Fiesta de Ingenieros." This event was especially meaningful to me–not only was it my prom, but it was also my first major project in graphic design, where I took on the challenge of creating the entire visual branding.
Using Adobe Illustrator, I designed everything from the ball poster and entrance tickets to VIP passes, graduate wristbands, drink menus, and the seating plan. After months of work and countless drafts, the final designs came together and were displayed in hundreds of locations across the state. Over 1,000 tickets were sold, which made the experience even more rewarding.
The central element of the design was based on a purchased asset from GraphicRiver, but everything else evolved organically as I experimented and refined my ideas. This project taught me the importance of time management, as I balanced it alongside my Matura exams and diploma thesis. I’m incredibly grateful for the support of my professors throughout this journey–their guidance was invaluable and encouraged me to push my skills further.
In the end, I’m proud not only of the final designs but also of the recognition the project received. This experience allowed me to significantly improve my skills in Adobe Illustrator, and the positive feedback from both my peers and mentors truly meant a lot to me.
